Bears Ears Monument Souvenir Shop
How it Happened

Tamy Jaramillo (pictured below), Yak's Café owner and chef, had a dream. This website, and its exclusive products are the result of that dream. The new line of Bears Ears products was something to add to the sucess of her business of seventeen years and her experience of thirty plus years in the hospitality industry.

.
In her own words, it happened like this:
.
"A little history. I had a vision/dream.
.
I was coming home from a barrel race, thinking about how to enhance the cafes business. I thought about extending hours. But that would benefit only me. Then, this idea appeared.
.
People are always asking questions, directions, and general information about the Bears Ears, since it made the news and became a National Monument. We did our homework, and found very few souvenirs, or products for the Bears Ears National Monument where out there; and those that existed didn't portray the tarea or the local Native American connection.
.
In my dream, I was told to employ Chris Blackhorse, a local Navajo Artist and a longtime friend of mine from Bluff, Utah. With Chris, help we create a line of authentic and incredible Bears Ears souvenirs.

I reached out to Chris and told him about my dream/vision. Chris, being a visionary artist, brought it to life - way beyond my expectations. With a small-town business owner's dream and an exceptional artist, we've created an original, unique, hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind line of Bears Ears National Monument souvenirs.
.
The line includes, pottery bears (pictured above), paying tribute to the wildlife and the Bears Ears Buttes, t-shirts with hand drawn artwork from Chris Blackhorse, water bottles, drink koozies, coffee mugs, hats and much more.
.
The bears and t-shirts (our most popular products) are all produced in San Juan County, Utah. Enhancing the local economy, providing more jobs for local residents.
.
We hired a local t-shirt shop (Bears Skins Custom Ink) to help create Yak's Cafe's Bears Ears t-shirts.
.
The last part of the dream, to market worldwide, came in to play on the 15th of January 2019. Our products are available in house, online at: Yaks. Café, Etsy, Amazon, and Ebay."
.
All designs are exclusive to Yaks Cafe, copyrighted and trademarked to us to ensure that we can continue to employ Chris Blackhorse; and to protect our hard work we have put into creating this line of souvenirs.
.
We are so proud and excited to be offering the only local authentic Native American Bears Ears National Monument souvenirs, in the world.
